Together Apart

 We had a beautiful day today, capped by a birthday party carefully planned for pandemic safety. We wore our masks, sat distantly outdoors, took turns at the fire, and enjoyed each other. There were twelve of us. It was windy. So except for brief moments, we were four households staying apart. 

There was a piñata shaped like a yellow submarine, gifts, and a nature trivia game.

There were also hot dogs, s'mores, and glow sticks around a fire pit.

It takes more effort to celebrate like this, and I'm grateful for the planning that went into safety during this time. I'm even more grateful for these wonderful people, whom I love so much.
